The GAMEX conference is targeting the consumer gaming market and this was the first year the event took place in Kista Fair, not far from SenseGraphics office. The exhibition was a huge success, expectations before the event was to gather 25 000 visitors during the 4 day event but only on Saturday more than 10000 visitors showed up!!!

SenseGraphics brought the Core Skills Trainer (www.CoreSkillsTrainer.com) to the event, a great tool for learning what haptics is and what haptics can do to for the user experience. For the more hard core gamers our ASUS 3D Laptop loaded with Half Life 2 Episode 1, combined with haptics from Novint got even more attention! The use of real 3D stereo was actually quite common at the exhibition but we were the only one showing 3D stereo together with haptics in a real cool game.

Sony, JVC, LG and Panasonic are some of the BIG players showing their new products for the 3DTV and VR market.

Being present at the Nihon Binary exhibition booth we have been able to attract hundreds of visitors to the SenseGraphics Display 300, featuring not only 3D stereo but also haptics. The user can feel the 3D objects where the graphics are represented and for sure this is a “waow” experience for first time users…

Media has been here and broad casting (live) from our booth. Hopefully we’re able to link to some of the coverage soon.

Another interesting video from Miccai features the Inition (another SenseGraphics friend) company booth. Inition is specialised in all sorts of 3D visualisation gears. In the video below (after 1 minute) you will find a haptics Botox concept simulator that actually was put togteher using SenseGraphics H3DAPI and development services from our company.

This seams to be the first 120 HZ LCD based Immersive Workbench available on the market.

The venue takes place at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach hotel and SenseGraphics will be there to show their latest advances in the field of medicine and virtual reality. Hopefully we will be able to show some of the new medical applications being developed using H3DAPI, more information will be available as we approach the conference.

For this conference we have also teamed up with MOOG to show their haptics as well as DepthQ StereoScopic to show their new HD real 3D stereo projector.

If you are present at the show make sure you join the workshop session of SenseGraphics CTO, Daniel Evestedt. The presentation will take place the 19th of January, Session C at 3.45: “H3DAPI: An Open Source API for Dexterous Skills Simulators”.

We’re getting very close to this years Eurohaptics in Madrid and thus the next major release of H3DAPI.

Mark the 10th of June as the official release of H3DAPI version 2.0 Beta! This release comes with many new features and one of them includes stable support for the low priced Novint Falcon haptic device. The Novint Falcon is developed for the gaming industry but works very well for research and educational/programming use. SenseGraphics actually sold well over 100 Novint Falcon devices to Universities and other schools all around Europe, some of them even buying the device for full class room settings. Using the Falcon together with H3DAPI is a nice way of learning programming in 3D environments and a good entry point for students if they want to learn more advanced programming for medical simulators (as one example). Check out SenseGraphics Hall of Fame to see some of the examples on what can be done with H3DAPI.

Back to Eurohaptics in Madrid!
Starting the 10th with workshops the 11th of June marks the start for presentations and the industrial exhibitions. SenseGraphics, MOOG FCS, ForceDimension, Immersion, Haption will be there to mention a few companies active in the field.
The 12th, SenseGraphics will be holding a presentation in Aula C which includes “H3DAPI tech talk” and some more presentations from people actually using the software for application development. MOOG FCS will present more about their recently developed simulator for the dental industry. To our knowledge this would be the first hardware including haptics features targeting the dental simulating/teaching industry solely.
